I’ll catch your heart <3

This kinda stuff is too much work =_=…

This post is on the image heavy side.

I’m sorry, I totally stole this one from you, it’s fine since we are like buddies and stuff right? … Right?

It was just so cool and Aya like that I ended liking too much.

Fastest yes, honest? Well that’s questionable as always.

In case you forgot she is CNN9’s field correspondent.

So, who wants to bet on the answer?

Robots or little girls of mass destruction?

Also, typo… sigh.

Hey, that description sounds familiar!

If you are a Touhou fan anyways.

Totally meaningless cameo…

So nostalgic, that totally dominated my childhood for a while. Among other things anyways, yay for the 90s!

While doing my silly crappy effects I came across this video compilation.

So awesome!

Saving people is not her job apparently. Who will save the city then?

Once again wanna guess? Another robot or little girls of mass destruction?

A challenger has appeared? Who could it be?

Dropped kicked with high heels… that must suck.

They did call out your attention, that’s like a warning and stuff right? Besides who gives warnings when they attack someone?

Nana Mizuki voices her, she also voices a certain other magical girl by the way.

She is my favorite Precure ever.

Flowers are a big motif throughout Heartcatch Precure.

Let me talk about these two figures a bit. They are from Bandai’s S.H.Figuarts line, I like them quite accurate to the show.

However, Bandai thought it would be a good idea to make their hair solid PVC. Because of that they are very top heavy and impossible to balance without using a stand. As you might or might not know, usually I either don’t use them or hide them with different angles and other tricks.

In this case, that was impossible for me, not apparent at least with my limited time.

I really like Cure Marine, she so cute and spunky.

I somehow managed to miss that until it was pointed out to me. I wonder how I was like 20 something episodes in.

I bet getting kicked in the gut with high heels must also suck.

Yes, the Heartcatch girls totally gang up to beat up their enemies. Perfect example is the awesomeness that was the last battle with the big bad villain.

Nice dodge!

Too bad it was the only one.

Smart people? Why needlessly endanger yourself? Finish off your enemies quick.

That’s why gloating villains never win, they always wait for the good guys to get up again.

Only good guys get a free turn. That’s why they can transform, combine, call out their attacks and so on without getting attacked midway.

Sorry, this time your the bad guy Mighty Morphing Megazord. Hmm.. did that title also apply to the Megazord or only the rangers?

Crappy special effects start now, be warned.

Also some robot mutilation.

A similar thing happened in the show proper… no dismemberment there though.

By the way that’s not blood, it’s like Megazord oil or something.

Yes, Precure occasionally attack you with your own weapons and/or body parts.

Again, that’s not blood.

Yes, once they beat you down and maim you Precure will typically use their finishing move on you.

Again, crappy special effects incoming.

Finishing move sequence part 1.

Part 2.

I really like this finishing move, it’s pretty cool.

Part 3.

It gets even better with the third Heartcatch Precure.

Part 4.

That’s supposed to be a fortissimo sign as in music and stuff I think.

Part 5.

They cover themselves in flower power(?) and shoot themselves at their enemy.

Part 6.

Usually their enemies end up watching helplessly as the Fortissimo approaches them.

Part 7.

Followed by promptly getting pierced by the Fortissimo.

Part 8.

The enemies heart is then captured by the Precure, thus the show name: Heartcatch Precure.

Part 9.

Yes, at the end the enemy blows up.

Hmm… now that I did a play by play of the Fortissimo, I can’t help but find it a little messed up. Get’s even better with the Shining Fortissimo and the Heartcatch Orchestra, the next two tiers of finishing moves.

Now then I will leave you off with the first Heartcatch ending.

This is my favorite Precure ending watched it every time, which means I watched it like 30 or so times by the time the second ending was used.

By the way Heartcatch is my favorite Precure show so far.

Holy crap I never saw a comic so long haha!

Go go Megazord! Total nostalgia trip indeed. :p

    • Miette-chan says:

It is, perhaps I should have split it into three parts. Would you believe me this is an abridged version of my original vision?

      Power Ranger nostalgia is cool.

  2. bd77 says:

    Ahaha~! XD
Go right ahead, as I got that idea by listening to a certain Touhou song.

Oh my, never imagined to see Megazord rampaging through the city… and defeated by those two. XD

Got to hand it to you, nice setup. =D
(and like ashlotte said, a bit long, too.. ^^;)

    • Miette-chan says:

I think I might know which song, even more since that braking felt like I seen it somewhere before.

Well, I have a severe lack of “bad guys” really only own a small army of cute girls.

For having been built in less than hour that’s good to hear.

Indeed, now that it has been brought up the more I think I could have split it up. Oh well, lesson learned for next time.

  3. Justin says:

Haha wow this was so hilarious! Exactly how long did it take to do this!??

  4. AznEvan says:

Hahahaha, this is great!! xD I like the background, it’s so simple yet awesome! Megazord is a bad guy?! xD LOL. Great comic!!

  5. radiant says:

Wow man. That’s some crazy shit going there! What were you smoking? 😛

    m***zord lol nice

That’s a pretty sweet comic. It looks like you put in A LOT of time and effort there! Awesome job!

Protip: to get a nice glow effect, set your airbrush to “Color Dodge”

    • Miette-chan says:

That’s kinda how your typical Precure battle was, in Heartcatch anyways, in the second half of the show anyways.

I always found it amusing when that comes up on manga and stuff, thought I would borrow it.

I put too much time, could probably have put more effort.

I wonder if that also applies to Paint.net, I’m to stingy and lazy to get a copy of Photoshop.

  6. Fabienne says:

haha omg what did you smoke? I loved your B-Movie like setting, the props and the story, that was hilarious and highly enjoyable^o^

Oh Megazord and the Power Rangers, I liked this show a lot back then.
The first season was the best ;D

    • Miette-chan says:

Cool, glad you liked it. You made me go and look what is considered a B movie nowadays.

I lost track after the end of the first set, I did end up watching some of the newer stand alone shows though.

  7. Zai says:

The amount of time you must have put into this is crazy! I wish I had your kind of dedication to building stuff. I try to make papercraft for Figma sometimes but I lose interest and give up too quickly to actually get anything done.. >.<

Yay for the 90's indeed! I feel sorta sorry for Megazoid there, lol

    • Miette-chan says:

I don’t think I put more than usual, other than the extra bit for the dialogue and effects. It’s much more frustrating though dealing with articulated figures like these though. Still fun, specially once I put together the end product.

The 90s were cool, only bad thing about is that it makes me feel old.

  8. Luth says:

I agree about the set looking good, the buildings especially don’t look bad! That skid effect is pretty cool too. And Megazord! I always wanted one when I was younger but alas, the closest thing I got to it was a crappy Lego rendition. Those Pretty Cure figs look like they have pretty crazy articulation, how are they compared to Figma?
On your comment above, you can get a copy of Photoshop Elements for < $100 or even GIMP for free (although I heard its a bitch to learn) and have access to color dodge and all sorts of awesome photo tools.

    • Miette-chan says:

I stole the idea for the city from actual photography props.

I too wanted a megazord when I was a kid. That’s why when I saw this one I bought it without a second thought.

They are essentially Bandai’s version of a figma. They feel more rubbery and have some odd design choices such as the aforementioned hair issue. Articulation wise and looks wise they are comparable to a figma. I would say it’s commendable effort from Bandai given their previous efforts.

I didn’t like the Gimp at all. I really don’t feel the need to get Photoshop anything Paint.net can do everything I need the only problem I find is that it’s not as well documented as photoshop.

  9. Nopy says:

I’m impressed, that must’ve taken a long time to put together. I don’t think your special effects are too bad, they’re definitely better than anything I could do.

I can’t believe you have a Megazord, I used to watch Might Morphing Power Rangers all the time way back. It does look more like a villain than a good guy though. I guess that’s why it didn’t get a free turn this time.

    • Miette-chan says:

Nah, it’s not as much work as people might think. I could probably make some nicer effects but I end up getting annoyed. Really tedious to do for me.

I was surprised when I bought it a couple of years back. Now that I look at it, horns, glowing eyes, yeah huh.

  10. Blacksun88 says:

nice tsukkomi up there XD good job
